Today is Memorial Day
And we remember...
How could we forget
That day in September?
We will always remember it
And those we lost.
We could never forget
What that day has cost.
For the troops in foreign lands
Far from their loved ones, all alone
I ask God to give them strength
And comfort their families
Waiting at home.
But today is a day to remind us
Of those we lost in other times too.
In good times and bad,
Through all the years,
Those we loved and friends we knew.
Today.....
I think of my own loved ones.
Gone such a long time...
but still in my heart.
Reminiscing about my parents and brothers
And all the times our relatives got together.
I never thought about the day we'd part.
Yesterday.....
As I placed some flowers upon the graves
I knelt and said a prayer and cried.....
Then I realized that I am what's left of you.
You never died...
I thought of a poem I read long ago
"I Am Not There"
I see you in my children and their children
You're still here....
I see you in my dreams
It seems there's something every day
To remind me of your love
You will never be far away.
Because in my heart...
You're Still Here

I Am Not There
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight,
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there...
I did not die."
Author is unknown to me
But I thank you with all my heart
This is dedicated to all those who served for our country,
For all who were lost on September 11, 2001
And for their families and the heros everywhere
To those who gave their life to save others
To the one's they left behind.....
And to all who served and fought for our freedom in all the wars
Including the troops in Iraq, Afghanistan
And places all over the world
May God give them the strength to carry on.
And faith to those at home waiting for them
This was written in memory of my Mom and Dad,
My brother Jim and nephew Little Roy.
The grandparents I have yet to meet
My many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins
And friends both on line and off,
That have gone on before me.
I Love You and Miss You Always
