Memorial Day


Memorial Day... a day to remember

Remember our loved ones we lost.

Remember those who fought for our country.

Remember September 11, 2001 and what it cost.



It's a day set aside to honor our men and women

That fought for our freedom every day.

It's a special day set aside to thank God

For all the people He sent our way.



I remember as a little child

My dad at the cemetery planting flowers

As I asked a million questions

That he so patiently answered for hours.



He would plant them oh so lovingly

First one grave and then another

As I learned about my unknown family

Aunts and uncles, a granpa and grandmother.



So on this memorial Day... like always

I'll spend it visiting those I lost through time.

I'll say a prayer for all those who fought our wars,

For those we lost September 11, 2001

And for all who were left behind.
