I Remember...

Walking hand in hand
Into church with my mother.
My dad behind us holding
Onto my brothers.

Daddy, so handsome in his suit
And the boys so grown up in theirs.
My mom always made me a pretty dress
With a matching bow in my hair.

Mother was so beautiful
In her lovely Easter bonnet
With all the colorful
Flowers upon it.

Coming out of church
It looked like an Easter parade.
All the ladies dressed up
In colors of every shade.

Times have changed since then-
Women hardly ever wear hats anymore.
Going to church on Easter has become
As casual as going to the mall
... I think I liked it better before.

This is dedicated to my brothers, Roy and Bernard,
