Poets have always written about love.
About the moon and the stars above.
About wanting and waiting and wondering why,
About hurting and crying and saying good-bye.
Some write about love that was fun
And some about love that's all done.
Love can be good and love can be bad,
Sometimes it's happy and sometime sad.
An old sailor I knew once said to me
"There's all kinds of love don't you see"?
There's even such a thing as selfish love
It comes first, you hold it high...way up above.
When you find love you want it to be yours alone.
There's nothing you hold tighter than a love of your own
But you should always love unconditionally
With a heart unburdened with jealousy.
A famous poet said this too
"To thine own self be true"
That's exactly what I'm trying to do
But no one can replace my love for you.
Yes, there's all kinds of love, of that I'm sure
Love... Amore'... A'Mour...
And the moon and stars and heaven above
Always remind me of my true love!
