I sit alone this St Patrick's day
Thinking of family that's no longer here.
Remembering how we celebrated on this day;
The parade, the laughter and drinking green beer.

Soon the party will begin
Down at Doherty's Pub.
Folks from all around
Will have fun at this Irish club.

The singing and the dancing
To the irish lullabyes
Will bring melancholy tears
To all the smilin' irish eyes.

We'll sing about the old home
And the green hills of Ireland.
We'll toast the folks who've left us
With a guiness in our hand.

Mother, dad and brother Jim
Aunts, uncles and cousins are just a few
Now all gone to Heaven's home.
But... their spirits will join us too.

I'll hear their voices singing
Down at Doherty's Pub tonight
As I reminisce of old days
On this St Paddy's night.
